The moment of anticipation finally arrived; tonight, a whole bunch of girls unashamedly indulged in Sex and the City, the movie. It's been a while since we last checked in with Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha and Miranda. A friend has the boxed sets from Series 1-5, and every month or so a group of us girls would get together for a pot luck dinner and watch a few episodes of SATC. Didn't we all live through their ups and downs like they were our own?
So, after four years, we were ready for the next installment. Yes, it was predictable. Yes, it seemed like an extra long episode, even without some of the insightful commentary that usually came about from Carrie's writing. Yes, we get it: fashion and clothes play a big part (even though some outfits were bordering on ridiculous, and I'm not talking about the ones on the catwalk either). Yes, there was lots of humour and warm fuzzy moments in it. No, it wasn't the same as the series, but did that matter? All in all it was incredibly comfortable and restored our faith in what the show was about: friendship.
During the post mortem at Espressoholic, we agreed that we missed the presence of Stanford Blatch and Anthony Marentino (who both played minor roles), that Steve Brady had aged the most, that Smith Jerrod was also looking older but still incredibly hot, that Jennifer Hudson was great in her role as Louise from St Louis, that Charlotte is still the prettiest, that Samantha just doesn't fit into LA, that our Dawn was such a wuss for crying at soooooo many soppy stages, that - that - that ... yup, it was great to spend an evening with old friends. :-)
